    The Controller reports to the Vice President, Finance, and is an exempt position that manages financial close, reporting, and compliance as well as financial, planning, and analysis, and day-to-day accounting operations.

    Responsibilities

    Leadership

    • Team – lead, motivate, and inspire team
    • Department – Lead by example for department teammates; Provide technical and non-technical guidance to teammates
    • Company – Often times the “face” of the finance organization, not only to external customers but also our internal customers. Partner and collaborate across the organization and all levels of the organization

    Operations

    • Accounts Payable – Collaborate w/ Accounting Manager on A/P issues, initiatives, and interactions
    • Credit and Accounts Receivable – Collaborate with Credit, Inventory, Invoicing, and Collections personnel on Inventory and A/R issues, initiatives, and interactions
    • Month-end Close – Most technical expert and project manager for all month-end close processes
    • Variable Compensation – Collaboration with team members for development, compilation, maintenance, and customer service elements of the Company’s sales variable compensation plans.
    • Systems – Partner with System Administrator to be an internal resource and power user for Accounting and Reporting Software, CRM, Quote Tools, and Project Tools.
    • Processes – Become an expert on our processes and systems; continuously recommend better, faster, smarter ways of getting work done.

    Cash

    • Management – Responsible for maintaining accurate and timely awareness of cash position as well as developing and maintaining efficient methods of cash reconciliation
    • Payment Execution – Will have checking signing, ACH, and wire capabilities and with that be expected to demonstrate an extremely high degree of fiduciary responsibility
    • Forecasting – Responsible for partnering with Accounting Manager on the maintenance and enhancement of the 13-week cash flow model

    Project Accounting

    • Management – Responsible for assuring accurate and timely reconciliation and recognition of project revenues and expenses.
    • Partner – Lead the partnership and interactions with Zivaro, Inc.’s sales and engineering delivery teams to assure accounting and customer needs are met.
    • Reporting – Lead the design and maintenance for all Project Accounting.

    Compliance

    • Audit – Lead and direct others associated with the annual financial statement audit including the development of accounting memos supporting our interpretations of GAAP
    • Lender – Oversee execution of semi-annual lender reviews
    • Tax – Execute proper accounting and compliance on Sales, Use, Income, and Property Tax. Ideally, be the subject matter expert in one or two of the disciplines.

    Financial

    • Reporting – Develop and maintain monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad-hoc financial reports for use in distribution to board, executive team, management, lenders, and auditors.
    • Budgeting – Lead development and compilation of budgeting process across departments both on an annual static budget basis and throughout the year as necessary dynamic budgets are deemed necessary.
    • Forecasting – Similar to budgeting, partner with operational leaders to develop forecasted revenues, expense, and cash needs.
    • Analysis – Other ad hoc financial analysis as needed

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
    • 3 + years of public accounting experience (preferably as an auditor) and 2 + years of industry accounting experience.
    • Thorough understanding of GAAP
    • Excellent communication skills - From non-financial managers to executive management/Board
    • Experienced with Excel (pivot tables, vlookups, sumifs, etc.)
    • Highly analytical, detailed-oriented, and proven ability to meet deadlines and prioritize workloads
    • Proficient at identifying business opportunities through data analysis

    Preferred

    • CPA is a plus
    • Service provider, or distribution industry experience is a plus
    • Knowledge of Great Plains ERP and/or databases is a plus
    • Knowledge of Management Reporter reporting engine is a plus

     

    Physical Requirements:

    • Frequently sit for long periods at desk using computer
    • Able to stand for long periods at conferences
